Sinharaja Rain Forest stands out as one of the last untouched forests in the world. This evergreen area, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, represents a rare type of virgin rain forest still existing today. Rich with life and shrouded in mystery, it is the final extensive expanse of untouched rain forest located on the island. Spanning just over 11,000 hectares, it stretches through the wet zone on the southern side of the hill country. Its incredible variety of plant and animal life ranks it among the most biodiverse places globally. Here, you can find more than 130 species of birds, including many of the 33 species that are unique to Sri Lanka. The forest also hosts a diverse range of reptiles and countless insect species, many of which have not yet been identified. Various mammals inhabit the area, like the purple-faced langur and the giant squirrel. Walking is the best way to discover Sinharaja, providing a genuinely immersive jungle adventure.
The tour offers a walk through the Sinharaja Rain Forest, a riverside stroll, birdwatching trails, and a guided tour of tea plantations, which are also great spots for nature baths and swimming.
We will pick you up from your hotel. Once you arrive, you'll meet the tour team before transferring to Sinharaja, which is about 80 km from Galle city. At the main gate of the rainforest, you will meet your wildlife tracker, who will guide you through the forest and help you spot animals along the way. This forest is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. You may encounter monkeys, snakes, chameleons, numerous birds, and a large selection of tropical trees, plants, and flowers, as well as a lovely waterfall. You’ll also have the chance to take a nature bath and swim. During your visit, we will provide you with bottled water and lunch, which you can enjoy surrounded by stunning views in the forest. After a wonderful day exploring, we will take you back to your hotel.
